What do People Say About Southie? We Asked, and They Said…

¬†As you all know, I haven’t lived in Southie for very long. I do like talking to people about what they love about this place though, so I asked a few of my friends to walk down Day Blvd one day and ask people what they thought about the little place that used to be “Dorchester Neck.”

And what did they say? Check it out! You might recognize a few of your neighbors…

“Southie is my Hometown”

While I did not grow up in South Boston, I love the small town feel, the historic landmarks, and great views. The community has been great to get to know. I especially like these great watercolor paintings by Dan McCole of Southie.

Attention all Southie businesses and community organizations…

Let’s hold a summer scavenger hunt

It’s summertime and the weather is great. School is out, work is a little slower, and we all love being outside.

I want to hold a scavenger hunt in South Boston celebrating its history, local business, and community. Families and friends can create small teams to trek around town, accumulate points, and win prizes – all while raising money for the local VFW on Ellery St.

…And that’s about all I have planned. I need five to ten people to help organize and kick this off.

Will you help organize the event?

Will you help me plan the rest? If you are a business or organization in South Boston, would someone from your staff be willing to help plan? I would love to feature local businesses as “stops” along the scavenger hunt route. You could even play along with teams completing tasks!

In the comments below, please let me know your reactions to my idea! If you’re a South Boston business or community organization, please let me know if you’re interested in helping plan this event or becoming a partner.
